1. ความก้าวหน้าของ ICT และ e-Book ด้วยความจำเป็นที่จะต้องหาความรู้เกี่ยวกับเรื่อง e-Book เพื่อนำมาพัฒนาสื่อการเรียนรู้ ซึ่งเป็นงานในหน้าที่ พร้อมทั้งได้รับมอบหมายให้ดำเนินการฝึกอบรมเรื่อง e-Book จึงได้เริ่มให้ความสนใจอย่างจริงจัง กับเรื่อง e-Book สิ่งแรกที่นึกถึงคือ e-Book คืออะไร ปัจจุบันหน้าตาเป็นอย่างไร และพัฒนาไปถึงไหนแล้ว แหล่งข้อมูลที่จะตอบคำถามเหล่านี้ ที่นึกถึง ก็คือ Internet ดังนั้น การเริ่มต้นศึกษาเรื่องนี้จึงเกิดขึ้น โดยเริ่มค้นข้อมูลจาก Google.co.th โดยป้อนคำว่า e-Book ในการค้นหา ผลจากการค้นพบว่า มีรายการปรากฏขึ้นมาในการค้น มากกว่า 30,000 รายการ ซึ่งมากเกินความคาดหมายพร้อมทั้งแปลกใจว่า ใน Internet มีการพูดถึง e-Book กันมากมายขนาดนี้จริงๆ หรือ ดังนั้นจึงเริ่มต้นเข้าไปศึกษาที่ละ website ก็ปรากฏว่า ส่วนมากเป็นการโฆษณาขายหนังสือประเภท e-Book รองลงมาคือ เป็นการบริการหนังสือที่เรียกว่า e-Book ผ่านทาง Internet และแล้วก็พบเป้าหมายที่ต้องการ คือ คำอธิบายว่า e-Book คืออะไร รูปร่างหน้าตาเป็นอย่างไร และจะสร้าง หรือใช้งาน e-Book ได้อย่างไร พอได้ข้อมูลเหล่านี้ จากทั้ง website ที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ และภาษาไทย จึงเริ่มรวบรวม และศึกษาอย่างจริงจัง จึงทำให้รู้ว่า ปัจจุบัน เทคโนโลยีในเรื่องนี้ พัฒนาไปอย่างรวดเร็วจริงๆ จนกระทั่งในอนาคตอันใกล้นี้ เราคงจะหาอ่านหนังสือประเภท e-Book ได้ที่ไหนก็ได้ เพราะหนังสือประเภทนี้ จะลอยมาทางอากาศ และเข้ามาในเครื่องอ่านเล็กๆ ในมือเรา ที่ปัจจุบันอ่านได้ในเครื่อง ปาล์ม และในโทรศัพท์ มือถือ ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่นึกเห็นภาพในอนาคตว่า จะอ่านหนังสือที่ไหน เรื่องอะไรก็ได้ โดยไม่ต้องหอบหนังสือไปเป็นตั้งๆ เพียงแต่มีอุปกรณ์ที่จะสามารถ Down Load e-Book เข้ามาใน เครื่องอ่านของเราที่ไหนก็ได้ผ่านทางระบบไร้สาย แล้วก็สามารถอ่านได้อย่างสบาย <p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt" class="MsoNormal"> 2.e-Book คืออะไร</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-indent: 36pt; text-align: justify" class="MsoNormal">เพื่อให้มีความเข้าใจมากขึ้นเกี่ยวกับ e-Book จึงขอรวบรวมนิยามเกี่ยวกับ e-Book ที่มีผู้เขียนไว้บน Internet มาถ่ายทอดให้ได้อ่าน และทำความเข้าใจกันโดยได้คงข้อความเดิมไว้ทั้งหมด เพื่อความถูกต้องตามข้อเขียนที่เป็นต้นฉบับ ดังนี้</p>2.1 ความหมายของ e-Book จาก website ต่างประเทศ <p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; tab-stops: center 207.65pt right 415.3pt" class="MsoNormal"> </p>

What is an e-Book?
A distinction should be noted between electronic versions of books and true electronic publishing, which takes greater advantage of these additional functions to produce something rather different from the experience of reading a traditional book.
Given the screen size limitations of many portable devices, e-Books may not be suitable for publications containing complex charts or diagrams, However, they can offer new possibilities in terms of multimedia, audio and video.
Four e-Book formats are currently used for the majority of e-Book titles:
HTML (HyperText Markup Language): a large selection of publicly available e-Book titles is in this format, which is also used to produce web pages.
PDF (Portable Document Format): this format, which was developed by Adobe, closely replicates the appearance of printed pages.
PML (Peanut Markup Language): an HTML-based e-Book format specifically created for handheld devices running the Palm operating system.
XML (Extensible Markup Language): this format provides for more consistent, dynamic and therefore sophisticated tagging of content than HTML.
E-Book titles are available from online retailers, sometimes free. There are also a number of software tools available for converting data from other formats (for example, a Word-originated document) into an e-Book format. An example of this is Microsoft Reader

Timely - e-Books can also be kept easily up to date (unlike physical books) and re-distributed to existing or new customers in seconds.
Popularity - millions are sold on the Internet every year. Most are in 'Adobe' format for easy common accessibility.
Convenient - the ease and speed of the Internet means that you can buy your book without the hassle of going down to the shops and standing in a queue.
