This is another issue on AI and the Internet that we ought to be wary.

AI slop refers to low-quality, AI-generated images, text, and videos designed to mimic realistic content, often flooding social media for engagement or deception. Common examples include surreal or nonsensical images, fabricated news, political deepfakes, and formulaic, cliché-heavy blog posts or social media captions.

“Slop” is defined as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence,” has been chosen by Merriam-Webster’s human editors as the dictionary’s 2025 word of the year.

From [ Wikipedia ] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AI_slop gives many examples of slops and also reasons for sloppers to slop (like: to lure users into submitting a like out of guilt for a perceived victim - that’s more clicks [for cash]).

For AI-assisted graphics, one of the easiest ways to spot AI-generated videos is by watermarks. Videos made with Sora, OpenAI’s video generator, include an “easy-to-spot watermark, usually at the bottom left”. But, not all slops are easy to detected.

[ เจเนอเรชันที่โง่ที่สุดในประวัติศาสตร์! ] https://www.thaipost.net/columnist-people/947698/ tells about generations (of people) impacted by AI Slop and the overwhelming availability of (short) videos, caption/summary text, and designers traps on the Internet.

Let’s think about this and enjoy the rest of this Sunday. ;-)
