กุ้งเดินขบวน แก่งลำดวน
Every year around end of August to end of September, there is a natural phenomenon at Kaeng Lamduen (แก่งลำดวน) that rivals the coral spawn (in oceans) or the Christmas Island annual red crab migration. Thailand has this ‘annual shrimp parade’ where fresh water shrimps march up the mountain to spawn. the event is easily accessible, educational and spectacular – at the the right time and place.
Looking at the promotion of this event in English to see if this wonder of Thailand is known to the world tourists - yes, it is known and well liked, but there is ‘no recent campaigns’ on the Net. Why? Are our ‘official’ tourism campaigners too busy with ‘ganja’, alcohol, and sex? Is it because campaigning for ‘cities’ rewards more than campaigning for ‘provincial’ and nature? I don't really know. But I think we should do something to help. Here is my ask:
Can we help promoting local events (in Thailand) in the Internet by adding a few phrases in English in our blogs on social media platforms? By posting pictures with English caption? By adding English names (in brackets) to places, foods, fruits, festivals, … ? Our combined effort can become a great asset of Thailand for years to come.
