How the gut talks to the brain

I had posted some questions about “Food for Life on Us; How Much Food is Enough for Life on Us?; and Microbiotic food” some years back (in hope that they would lead to some food research activities -in Thailand- or else where) in “Food or Rubbish 3” [ https://www.gotoknow.org/posts/592300 ].
In short, I asked if we should feed our gut bacteria rather just ourselves. It seems that the answers (from various research results so far) are “yes”. But we have not anymore wiser about “what food is good for our gut bacteria”, apart from ‘suggested’ eating roughage/fiber-rich vegetables. I think we would guess that our ‘gut biome’ have ‘similar nutrient need’ to us and suffer from ‘similar anti-nutrients’ (toxin, poison, ‘killer micro-organism’/antibiotic,…) like us.
The devil is of course in the details.
