กริยา “affect” ออกเสียง “uh-fekt”
นาม “affect” ออกเสียง “af-ekt”
นาม “effect” ออกเสียง “ih-fekt”
ส่วนใหญ่ ใช้ “affect” เป็น กริยา หมายถึง
“to influence” หรือ “make a difference” เช่น
“The pay increase will greatly affect their lifestyle.”
“the dampness began to affect my health.”
ส่วนใหญ่ ใช้ “effect” เป็น นาม และ เป็น กริยา ได้บ้าง
นาม หมายถึง “a result” หรือ “an influence.” เช่น
“Move the cursor until you get the effect you want.”
กริยา หมายถึง “to bring something about as a result”
ส่วนมากใช้ใน “เนื้อหาเป็นทางการ” เช่น
“The new policies did little to effect change.”
“The prime minister effected many policy changes.”

Please bear with my hang-up on prefixes ;-)
affect (a-fect), effect (e-fect) are from Latin root
‘fect’ (=to do/make/create).
With prefix a- (=away from;
=not [in most cases] ) a-fect -> affect =to do by/with/from
With e- (=out/from within) e-fect -> effect =to do apparently/clearly/visibly
NB. Perfect (per-fect) = to do well/throughly;
prefix per- = through ;-)
