‘I presumed him to be her husband.’

‘They are very expensive, I presume?’

‘We must presume innocent until we have proof of guilt.’

เช่น เมื่อ Stanley พบกับ นักสำรวจอีกคน ในป่า

เขามิได้กล่าวว่า “Dr. Livingstone, I assume.”

หากแต่ กล่าวว่า “Dr. Livingstone, I presume.”

เพราะเหตุว่า “สถานการณ์ ชี้ชัดว่า บุคคล ที่เขาพบนั้น ไม่อาจเป็นคนอื่นได้”

หากแต่ ในการสนทนาปกติ อาจใช้คำไหนก็ได้
