We know that this government needs a lot of friends and should be very careful not to thread on friends' feet in public. There are more urgent issues to do: water supply in many places; assuring proper buying of rubber; preparing for similar calls for help from cassava, sugar cane, rics,... growers (after all if rubber planters get help because the market price drops then all growers. manufacturers, service providers are entitled fot help too when their market prices drop).
Would it not be better to set up rules and mechanisms to help "all people" in difficulties and allocate tavpayers' money to this at budget time (rather than at mobs' protests)?
Taxpayers' money should be used in a planned manner that is decided in Parliament. All people in difficulties should be given help directly in low-interest loans, deferment of repayments, certain grants amd so on. But not all growers/makers/... in any industry. Industry bodies can be set up and/or supported by government (through budgetary allocations) to deal with issues of the industry (Rubber Board, Rice Board, Sugarcane Board,...)
This model better target people in need and allow industries to respond quickly to their problems. They are at the 'coal face' they should learn the issies early and have expertise to resolve these issues to their own satisfaction.
Taxpayers should not be taken hostage and pay the ransom!
