In Quantum Cryptography classes, we have been following Alice and Bob exchanging their secret messages for some 20 years. Then Eve managed to eavedrop and learned about their secrets without either Alice or Bob knowing of the leak. That was a big problem for people (in government and defence offices) using Quantum Cryptography to communicate their top secret. But now Charlie comes into the rescue. Charlie sniffs the secret, learns its quantum characteristics and passes on both the secret (untampered) and its characteristics. Alice and Bob can keep their secret from Eve again. Because Eve does not know Charlie and does not get the characteristics from Charlie. But would Charlie learn the secret now? No. Charlie is specially trained to keep his nose out of clients' affairs ;-)
What if Eve somehow bumps into Charlie or manages to eavedrop on Charlie too? I'll let you read the article (click below) and tell us what you think.

NB. Alice, Bob and Eve are fictional characters used in illustrative examples explaining concepts of Quantum Cryptography. Charlie may be so-named to fill in the gap between A, B and E. Here is your chance for fame to add a name beginning with D to QC ;-)
