The Black Art of Innovation (Revealed)
We start by looking at what involved in getting 'from idea to product'. We can see that we will meet many other things on the way. We will have to assess our idea with respect to these things.
We want to get 'from idea to product' (black arrows) and we want a 'successful selling product' as well.
So, idea is important. But idea must go through many gates, getting tested (and bashed) gate after gate before idea can emerge as a selling product. Only a useful product will make the idea worth our while. ทำไทยทำ will focus on this path.
We have many other destinations for ideas. Such as 'open source' or public domain products (where we get famous but most time not any riches); parts of some other products; tools for building better products; software components or objects;...

- Assess ideas
== is it technically feasible?
== is it legal?
== does it have adequate market demand?
== who can help in making the product?
[In a way, these tests should have been applied to "all ideas" in the thinking and conceptual design stages. But when ideas appear earth shattering smashes, nothing should stop their realization. ;-) ]
- Advice and connect to resources
- Assist in planning courses of actions to realize products
- promote innovation in technical and higher education
- grow to become a public institute for innovation for advancing Thailand

ผมเจ็บช้ำมามากกับการ "ผ่านการพิจารณาของคณะกรรมการ" ที่คิดตามเราไม่ทัน แล้วมันมาปรับให้ของเราตก ...คกก. ก็ดีนะครับ แต่ต้องมั่นใจว่า พวกเขาฉลาดกว่าคนคิดนวัตกรรม (แล้วจะเอาอะไรมาพิสูจน์ว่าฉลาดกว่า มีความรู้มากกว่าจริง)

As for Apple, Job was the driver and Wozniak did the design and engineering, but it was Mike Markulla, who first invested Apple and moved it into the world as its second chief executive.
Bill Gates has known Warren Buffet since he was a child. Einstein relied on mathematcian friends Conrad Habicht, and Maurice Solovine and more to get his 'miracle year' (1905). Thomas Alva Edison should have been known for inventing the electricity power grid rather than the light bulb. He was a smarter businessman.
The Wright brothers were true backyard inventors who made their dream into reality using their ingenuity, perseverance and 'recycled' materials. Because they did not have money. Their bicycle shop employee Charlie Taylor helped them build their first aircraft engine. (There was another aeroplane project at the same time by someone who threw in a lot money but failed.)
I like 'collective genious' (as in a group of ordinary people who set out to do extraordinary things together) better. It is less lonely and more fun in companionship (networking ;-)
We are having many problems in many areas: politics, economics, environment, infrastructures,... and "morality" and unity. I think we may find some 'better' solutions by solving some problems in a larger context. We have limited resources and supports, we must use our ingenuity and efforts in multi-purpose ways.
A group or a family has its downside, but I have asked myself: "do I want to get there -- alone?" My answer is "No, it will be more fun on the way if I have others to share the moments of joy and pain."
