Etymology : Benign and Malignant

    วันนี้มีศัพท์มาฝาก 1 คู่ครับ คือ คำว่า Benign แปลว่าที่ใจดี กับคำว่า Malignant ที่ใจร้าย เพราะรากศัพท์ Mal_ แปลว่าเลว

• ดังนั้น benign tumor แปลว่า เนื้องอกที่ใจดี หรือเนื้องอกธรรมดา หรือ เนื้องอกชนิดไม่ร้ายแรง
• และ Malignant tumor แปลว่า เนื้องอกที่ใจร้าย หรือเนื้องอกที่กลายเป็นมะเร็ง (Cancers) ครับ

     เฉกเช่นเดียวกับผึ้งนะครับ ก็มีผึ้งที่ใจร้ายและผึ้งที่ใจดี ผมว่าเราน่าจะใช้เรียกผึ้งได้ด้วยศัพท์ 2 คำนี้นะครับ

• เพิ่งทราบว่าผึ้งก็มีคำเรียก ที่ใช้เหมือนใน มนุษย์ ด้วย
•  เนื่องจากเนื้องอกไม่มี ชนิดดี
• เวลาบอกคนไข้ว่า ที่เป็น benign จึงใช้คำว่าเนื้องอกชนิด ไม่ร้ายแรง
