Objectives

This course aims at orientating participants to general research principles, design and process. By the end of the course, the participants should be able to:

  1. Understand general research principles, design, and process,
  2. Evaluate/critique existing research, and
  3. Write up a research proposal

  4. The preparatory stages of research ซึ่งเป็นเบื้องต้น
  5. Research design

Assessment tasks

  1. Participation 25%
  2. Oral presentation 40%

Based on your research interest, choose 3 research articles/theses. Use the given guideline to give a 20 minute oral presentation for each article. Start (tentatively) on 21th November 2009.

  1. Brief research proposal based on your own interest. 35%. Due 20 Feb 2010.

You are encouraged to use charts, diagrams or tables to give a clear presentation. Prepare your power point presentation in point form (not more than 20 frames, 8 lines a frame).

Advice: How to get zero from presentation

  1. Copy word for word from the articles.
  2. Read instead of talk.
  3. Never ask any questions or comment on the issue being discussed.
