Khao Pansa means to remain in one place during the rainy season. A long time ago Buddha made a rule that priests might remain in their temples during the rainy season. Because some priests destroyed rice seeds when they passed villages. And the villagers gave a big and tall candle to priests. The candle was light up the image of Buddha in the temple. Then the villagers became to give the candle in ever rainy season. Besides feeling to help priests, the candle includes the villagers wish. The tradition is remained as the one of the most famous festival in Thailand since then.
