(ไม่มีคนใช้) พจนานุกรมไทย (หรือ?)

I browsed through G2K frontpage today and noticed many new bloggers by the headlines like "ประวัติส่วนตัว" and "ประโยชน์และโทษจากการใช้อินเทอร์เน็ต". I said to myself "here come another wave of g2k'ers and I wondered how many would stay on (with g2k). Many waves had roared and ebbed away before.

I read some and wondered more. Don't we use references when we write? Or more to the point ไม่มีคนใช้ พจนานุกรมไทย หรือ? There are words that Thais use quite often but the meaning of the words as used is not the same as explained in the "Thai Reference Dictionary" (พจนานุกรมไทย ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน). We don't care much about our language in "official sense". We mean what we mean in "popular sense". The question then "why don't we or the Thai Royal Institute (ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน) define the words as we use them?

I think we have a lack of one aspect of learning that is "verification of data". we write and we don't check if what we write is "correct"; we read and we don't check if the data is correct; we go on and use the data without checking it is correct. and we tell other people without telling them that our data is not checked (for correctness). It is as Buddhists should have been warned to observe (see Gaalaama-sutta and these:

Learning is not "believing" or memorising. Learning is more of adopting and applying the knowledge in our living. Learning is in a way 'a process of defining our life'. We learn and as we learn we write our "new" biography. We all wish for true and fruitful life, Would we write our new biography without checking our learning?

And it is only a few clicks away on the Internet we can "check" our learning. It is that easy!

Why don't we do it?

เห็นด้วยในเรื่องควรตรวจเช็คกับพจนานุกรมก่อนบันทึก หรือในทุก ๆ การเขียน

พจนานุกรมใช้ไม่ยาก การฝึกวินัยให้ตัวเองเขียนถูกต้องยากกว่า

ปล. การเขียนภาษาอังกฤษปนภาษาไทยทำให้เข้าถึงเป้าหมายยากไปหน่อยมั้ยคะ

(มีผู้มาทำ  ดร.  จากเมืองไทยเรื่องประวัติไทย..แต่..ต้องเขียนเป็น..ภาษาอังกฤษ..และ..หรือภาษา..เยอรมัน..)...ตรงนี้ดูแปลกๆดี..ทั้งๆที่...??....(ทุกคนที่มา..ต้องเขียนวิจัย..ในภาษาต่างด้าวแต่เขียนประวัติชาติตนให้..ฝรั่ง อ.ดร...ที่เขียนและอ่านและเรียนภาษาไทยได้ดี....)...งานวิจัยนี้เสียเงินทุนเป็นล้านๆ..สุดท้ายมี..คนไทยที่เรียนภาษาต่างด้าวจำนวนเท่าใด้ที่จะอ่านได้..สุดท้าย..ต้องแปล..กลับมาเป็นไทย..รึเปล่า...และจะต้องใช้เงินอีก   มากมายเท่าไร(...)...                 (กี้ท่)...ตัวนี้ไม่เกี่ยว..ลบไม่ออกอิอิ..

Thanks ภูสุภา : I know that I am an odd ball writing about Thai language in English. I have hope for multi-lingual culture in Thailand. One that see languages as tools for shaping society. We need to stand proud in this world. We can use Thai with good knowledge of other languages. We are Thais with understanding of other languages and cultures.

Your point is received with thanks. My excuse is yjay I write to encourage learning (as I reasoned "learning is defining life". One can learn to write one's (fututr or) biography. Like most of my givings -- the gifts are for those who can give them out again and again. ;-)

Thanks rojfitness: There, there, you have your way (as I have mine). We all reap what we sow. We can't complain that "People remember us more for our mistakes but less for our virtues". But we can learn to make a habit of 'checking our work' and to become 'righter' ;-).

I sprayed "my" questions about "pre-action review" (or editing) after reading a few new blogs. I even showed a bad example. But no-one pulled me up ;-).
