Academics and organizations have joined hands to hold an international multi-conference in the year of ASEAN, 2015, to celebrate HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sinrindhorn's 60th Birthday Anniversary.

Welcome to Thailand Translaton and Interpretation -- Academics and organizations have joined hands to hold an international multi-conference in the year of ASEAN, 2015, to celebrate HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sinrindhorn's 60th Birthday Anniversary.

The Thailand Translation and Interpretation conference "ASEAN Best Practices in Language, Translation, Interpretation and Informatics" is sponsored by several leading organisations and is set to attract a broad range of audiences. The conference program includes nine keynote addresses as well as interactive panels and exhibitions, and will take place at the Asia Hotel, Bangkok from 28th – 29th April, 2015. The conference will be followed from the 29th April and to 1st May 2015 by training workshops designed to enhance participants' professional skills.

The conference panels focus on this year's overall theme, "ASEAN Best Practices in Language, Translation, Interpretation and Informatics" with each session covering a complementing topic. In addition, professionals and academics from the field will present their papers, highlighting different topics concerning translation, interpretation, sign language and informatics.

Call for Papers

The Electronic Transactions Development Agency, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in cooperation with Association of Asian Translation Industry, National Association of Thai Sign Language Interpreters, Mahachulalongkornradjavidayalaya University, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, National Office for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Foundation for the Deaf under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, National Council for Language and International Studies, USA, SIL International and TEEC Australia Pty. Ltd. are pleased to call for papers and participation.

Cluster A: Translation and Interpretation

Cluster B: Language

Cluster C: Informatics relating to Language and Translation and Interpretation

Objectives

The objectives of the conference are:

To discuss the best practices in language, translation, interpretation, and informatics in the ASEAN Community relating to its 3 Pillars: political-security, economic, and socio-cultural-religious development;

To establish a collaborative network in the ASEAN Community with respect to matters of language, translation, and informatics;

To explore the possibility of establishing a hub for research and exchange of information in the three areas concerned.

Subjects

Papers to be presented at the two-day conference can address any issue concerning language, translation, interpretation, and informatics. An exclusive focus on the ASEAN Community is not

mandatory. The following are suggested sub-themes:

Best practices in language, translation, interpretation and informatics, e.g., translation of forms (hard copy and digital) used in Asian national single window;

Issues of localization, regionalization and internationalization;

Specific studies of machine translation;

Studies of multilingual documents/media, E-transaction format/procedures, product translation.

Interpreting services;

Crowd-sourcing for specific terminology;

The current and future prospects for language, translation, interpretation and informatics development in the ASEAN context as well as in individual countries;

Feasibility of coordinated efforts in relation to ASEAN Community language, translation, interpretation and informatics.

It is anticipated that the occasion will enable key stakeholders from academia, business professional communities and industry, the governments and the public to meet and discuss issues of shared

interest.

Speakers

The conference will feature three keynote speakers in Cluster A (Translation & Interpretation), Cluster B (Language) and Cluster C (Informatics). In addition there will be Panel Discussions.

Publications

Conference proceedings will be published in CD format, while selected revised and refereed papers will be published in Translation Quarterly and local journals.

Papers can be presented in English and Thai.
