แลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้จากวิชาสัมมนา 2 กิจกรรมบำบัดฝ่ายเด็ก (KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN PEDIATRIC )

สวัสดีครับท่านผู้อ่านทุกท่านที่ให้เกียรติและเสียสละเวลาเข้ามาอ่านบทความดีๆของผม วันนี้ผมมีมุมมองของนักกิจกรรมบำบัด ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับกิจกรรมบำบัดในฝ่ายเด็ก ซึ่งได้แลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ในวิชาสัมมนา โดยอาจารย์ดอกเตอร์ กันนิกา เพิ่มพูนพัฒนา มาฝากท่านผู้อ่านทุกท่านครับ

อาจารย์ดอกเตอร์ กันนิกา เพิ่มพูนพัฒนา ได้มีการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ว่า “ ในปัจจุบันนักกิจกรรมบำบัดในประเทศไทยนั้นยังมีจำนวนค่อนข้างน้อยเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มผู้รับบริการในทุกฝ่ายแล้ว กิจกรรมบำบัดในฝ่ายเด็กนับเป็นฝ่ายที่นักกิจกรรมบำบัดส่วนใหญ่ให้ความสนใจ อาจด้วยเหตุผลต่างๆ เช่น ได้ค่าตอบแทนค่อนข้างดี มีงานค่อนข้างเยอะ สนุกสนานขณะทำงาน เป็นต้น แต่อย่างไรก็ตามแม้ว่าจะมีนักกิจกรรมบำบัดในฝ่ายเด็กค่อนข้างเยอะ แต่เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มผู้รับบริการในฝ่ายเด็กแล้วก็ยังนับว่าขาดแคลนนักกิจกรรมบำบัดในฝ่ายเด็กอยู่เช่นกัน

สำหรับการให้การบำบัดในเด็กนั้นลำดับแรกต้องมีการประเมินเพื่อหาปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น ทั้งจากการสังเกต การสัมภาษณ์ผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแลเด็ก หลังจากนั้นก็จะมีการตั้งเป้าประสงค์ร่วมกันระหว่างนักกิจกรรมบำบัดและผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแล ต่อมาก็จะเป็นการให้การบำบัด และส่งเสริมทักษะต่างๆ โดยใช้วิธีการทางกิจกรรมบำบัด และที่สำคัญจะต้องมีการประเมินซ้ำเพื่อดูความก้าวหน้าในการบำบัดด้วย ซึ่งการให้กิจกรรมบำบัดในเด็กนั้น จะต้องดูเป็นองค์รวม ไม่ได้ดูเพียงด้านใดด้านหนึ่งเท่านั้น เพราะการที่เด็กจะเข้าสังคม การเรียน การทำกิจวัตรประจำวันต่างๆ ได้นั้น จำเป็นต้องมีความพร้อมในทุกๆด้าน นอกจากนี้ทัศนคติของผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแลเด็กนับว่าเป็นสิ่งสำคัญอีกประการหนึ่ง เพราะการที่ผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแลเข้าใจเด็ก ก็จะส่งผลดีทั้งต่อตัวเด็กเองและตัวผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแลด้วย เพราะการให้กิจกรรมบำบัดแก่เด็กเฉพาะในคลินิกคงไม่เพียงพอ ดังนั้นการที่ผู้ปกครองหรือผู้ดูแลได้กลับไปฝึกเด็กที่บ้านตามคำแนะนำของนักกิจกรรมบำบัด ก็จะช่วยส่งเสริมทักษะของเด็กได้ดียิ่งขึ้น เพราะเด็กได้ฝึกในบริบทจริง ส่งผลให้เด็กสามารถนำทักษะต่างๆไปใช้ได้จริงในชีวิตประจำวัน”

 สุดท้ายนี้ผมขอขอบพระคุณคณาจารย์กิจกรรมบำบัดมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดลทุกท่าน ที่คอยให้ความรู้ในด้านต่างๆ คอยสอน คอยฝึกฝนให้นักศึกษากิจกรรมบำบัดทุกคนเกิดทักษะและความชำนาญในวิชาชีพกิจกรรมบำบัด กิจกรรมบำบัดเปรียบเสมือนส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตผม ผมสัญญาว่าผมจะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่จะช่วยพัฒนาวิชาชีพกิจกรรมบำบัดให้ก้าวไกลและจะยืนหยัดอยู่ในจรรยาบรรณวิชาชีพนี้ตลอดไป

 

 

 Hello once again dear readers. Today I would like to share a little perspective from an occupational therapist of pediatric area, as has been brought to me by Dr.Kannika Permpoonpatana during a conference.

Dr.Kannika stated in the conference that “Currently, the number of occupational therapists is far less when compared to the number of people in need of our service.  The pediatric section seems to be getting the highest attention from the therapists. This is may be due to varying reasons including the salary, the variety of work and even the fun and joy of the work itself. Nonetheless, our number is still lacking.

When dealing in pediatric issues, the first thing is analyzing and examining what the problems are, taking into account both the information from our own observation and the parents’ interviews. From there on, we will work together with parents or guardians and set up our goal. Of course, we must fully exercise our therapy skills here, but it is also as much important to ensure that we are always re-assessing our cases to see the progress. We must also look in an overall-perspective, not focusing too much on any particular area because for children to go back and live their life, they must be ready, not just physically, not just psychologically or any specific area, but all-around. Moreover, parents’ attitude is one crucial thing that just cannot be ignored. Understanding their children will undoubtedly be one of the keys. Clinical therapy alone will not be enough, parents will have to follow the instructions properly while trying to understand the children from their perspective. Since parents are the one living with their children, their efforts will be as much essential as the therapists’ if not more.”

I lastly would like to express my appreciation to all professors and instructors of Mahidol University Occupational Therapy for their teaching and their dedication to nurture up generations of therapists. Occupational Therapy is and will be a part of my life and as a promise to the gratefulness my teachers have given, I am committed to contribute to the occupational therapy society and to its codes of morals and ethics.
