English camp

English Camp is one of the ways to learn English.

English Camp is one of the ways to learn English.

Therefore between 16 – 18 of March, 2012,  the  International Nursing committee  and Nursing Division organized  an “English Camp” for Nurses’ staff. There were 10 persons who joined this camp: P_Noy from Ward2C , P_Keau from Ward 3D, Kaevalin from Ward 4A, Cherry from SICU, Nan from Ward AE4, Aor from Ward 3C , Pis from OR and her daughter, “Ing”(the youngest  student), Arjan Nong from Pathological Department  and myself from Pediatric Nursing Department.

16 of March 2012 in the evening

Before we went to the camp, we met our friends so we could travel in convoy. The administrators  Ms. Siriporn (Vice of  Head Nurse in Clinical Service), Ms.Puang-rat (Vice of Head Nurse in Academic) and Ms. Punnee (President of International Nursing Committee)  also came to see us off. Thank you very much for sending  us.

When we reached the camp which was Karen’s house (it is on the way to Kalasin), Karen greeted us in front of her house. We introduced ourselves.

Before we got into the house, one of us gave Karen Vietnamese BBQ which P Wararat asked us to give Karen. It was our dinner. Thank you so much P Wararat.

Karen showed her favorite bathroom.

She showed the rooms that we were going to sleep in as well. There were two bedrooms in her house and one bedroom in Hieng’s house.

She also showed her working room that she slept in while we were in her house.

We started the class. She gave each of us a file which put a schedule and some sheets inside.

We studied about how to ask the questions, vocabulary and how to pronounce the words that have similar sound.

Everyone had chance to present in front of the class.

It’s time for dinner. We had grilled fish, papaya salad and Vietnamese BBQ.

After dinner, we continued studying.

She taught us singing and dancing  “Hokey Pokey".

It was 9 pm, time for bed.

17 of March 2012

We woke up  at 6.30 am. She took us to exercise by walking. We walked to the lake. She took the stick with her for chasing away the dogs.

While we were passing an exercise play ground, we tried out the exercise’s equipment.

During going back, Ing and Hot (son of Hieng) ran back home.

Breakfast were grilled pork, sticky rice with egg, soy bean milk, boiled rice, and Chinese donuts.

Time for class, we learnt about review answer question, vocabulary and family vocabulary and questions.

We took a break with very delicious brownie cakes and banana cake made by Hieng.

Then we continued learning about family vocabulary and questions.

We ordered lunch out.

In the afternoon, it was cooking class, where we learnt  how to cook  BBQ spare ribs and so many vocabulary words about being in the kitchen.

We also learnt how to cook bread by Hieng.

In the evening there was a storm and rain. The wind blew very hard and it made a hole in the roof of Karen’s house.  So there was a small flood in the small bedroom. Only one blanket on the floor was wet.

Dan(Hieng’s husband) got to see the roof and covered the roof temporally and Hieng moved the wet  blanket away and cleaned the wall and the floor.

Dinner  started at 7.30 pm. It was Korean BBQ. Dan  set the charcoal stove and Hieng prepared more vegetables and fruits. We learnt some vocabularies in this meal and time flew. It ‘s too late to have class again. So she allowed us to go to bed. (Thank you Karen).

18 of March 2012

We woke up  at 6.30 am. Today we didn’t walk to the lake. She provided the number’s game.

At first she taught us about the numbers inside the house. After that we went to play the game in front of the house. Even though we ran a lot, we enjoyed this game very much.

Breakfast was American Breakfast with bacon, omelet, toast and some fruits.

After that we studied about prepositions by presenting and working in pairs or 3 persons.

Next we played games (verb with –ed, present and past tense).

Next activity was telling a story from the pictures. We were excellent, weren’t we? Karen.

Lunch was  the foods that we prepared yesterday. They were very delicious. ( I had them more than 2 times.)

Tha last activity was talking about our families. Everyone has so many members and we are also the members of this world.

Time to say goodbye.

Summary

This camp we learnt English from a native speaker. It was very fun because the teacher was very enthusiastic. She  had so many activities for her students. It was easy for the beginner to follow and it wasn’t boring for the intermediate level’s person because there are so many things we didn’t know. Even things that we had heard before, we still did it wrong. So I love this camp.

We hope that there will be an English camp again for the other staffs.

Thank you Karen and team (Hieng, Dan and Hot) for providing many good things for us and looking after us very well. You all have been very helpful. We enjoyed this camp a lot and are grateful to you.

Thank you, all  administrators, for setting this camp.

Thank you all of friends for coming in the camp. If there wasn’t anybody, it couldn’t be a camp.

See you.

Bye
