I somehow think that the future of library will not be with paper books and buildings but on "online services" over smart phones (and tablets and computer sticks -- linked up to a digital TV set in homes). People will be browsing the library catalogues from their phones, borrow and view the library materials on their phones. People would be asking questions and/or request for information from libraries around the world (and in another century from the libraries in the Galaxy). Reading "signs and symbols" (icons) languages will be much needed. Listening to "audio" emoticons (those aah, eh? "ha", "heh", ooh, ooch,...) will be another "art form".
Let us welcome the brave new world as best as we can put up "our faces" ;-)
