Pre-motherhood diabetes on the rise, study says
The diabetes increase was highest among 13-19 year-olds giving birth. The rate ballooned from about 1/1000 pregnancies to 5.5/1000 during seven-year period.

About 15 million people in the US are diagnosed with diabetes, and 1.5 million new cases were diagnosed in people age 20 and older in 2005, according to the American Diabetes Association.
