It is official now that Australia will be under a pair of niños: The Pacific oscillation niño (ENSO, El Niño Southern Oscillation) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (aka Indian Niño) this summer (late 2023-early 2024). A double whammy on top of climate change. Dry, drought conditions, with temperatures well over average and rain falls well below average , are to be expected. Agriculture produce and products - food industries will be impacted. Cattle and Poultry Industries are reducing their holding in anticipation of rising feed costs.
How do ordinary ( urban ) people prepare to meet the challenge?
How will Thailand prepare for this (even when it’s flooding in many parts of the country)?
Soon the excess water will drain away and the dry season may extend well beyond Songkrant.
TMD would have little work to do when every day is another hot and dry day day after day .You and I should stock up dry food, start home vegetable garden, buy extra fans, add home protection and fire protection and …

The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD, Indian Niño) is defined by the difference in sea surface temperature between two areas (or poles, hence a dipole) – a western pole in the Arabian Sea (western Indian Ocean) and an eastern pole in the eastern Indian Ocean south of Indonesia. I’ll start to stock dry food, home vegetable garden for the future. If rising feed costs my 4 cats must eat dry fish mixed to some rice.
I would prefer to be wrong about the future weather and a lot of people would also be happy. But Nature (and Physics) works in their own ways.
Cats are carnivorous and their diet usually not cooked rice but meats of other animals. If rice is to be their main diet, I would suggest finely chopped up vegetables, eggs, bloods and livers mixed in to give them vitamins and minerals – a more balanced diet ;-)
