Perhaps Thai newspapers should have spent a bit more time checking some facts they were reporting (instead of just translating from other sources). It seems that they did not see the difference between
‘yuca’ (You-ka, มันสำปะหลัง cassava or manioc, with edible root, usually processed into flour) and ‘yucca’ (Yuhk-a, Mojave yucca, Spanish dagger, a small flowering dessert plant, parts of plant are used in medicine and in pet food to reduce odour, flowers are edible).
