How many bytes do you have a day?

Last night I had a question: In our digital world, we consume digitised electronically generated data (for convenience let us measure it in "bytes" of 8 bits) everyday. I estimated that

I watch digital TV about 2 hrs daily --- 3 GB (of MPG encoded data),

I am on the Net for email and news and G2K about 2 hrs daily --- 30 MB (image and audio off)

Phone: 10 minutes of Voice and SMS --- 3 MB

    Writing 1 hr --- 30 KB

    Making notes 2 minutes --- 3 KB

It is quite a revelation to me that percentage-wise, I spend more of my time consuming bytes, little time in interaction and next to no time making history ;-)

And looking at this in another way, not many bytes I have control over. I cannot really  choose what I watch, what I feed on the Net or what calls and SMS I get. I can choose what to write and to note -- and all that is a fraction of one percent in my daily bytes.
