คุณภาพข้าวไทย และ คุณภาพชีวิตชาวนาไทย?

Should rice growers look to ensure their product rice quality?

Their market (for rice) is eroding (by recent market perception). Thailand has enjoyed being the best producer of best rice in the world. But now that is no longer the position. Thai rice growers now have more to do to regain market trust and market share.

Their livelihood and quality of life and that of their children who follow them are now under threats. (Other farmers too will need to consider their positions.) They need to ensure quality of their products in order to ensure their quality of life in the long term.

Khun SR, my opinion, to ensure quality of farmers' products in order to ensure their quality of life in the long term, needs helps from vary stakeholders, for they seem can not reach the addressed goal by themselves.

Yes, it is a BIG ask and it is a 'vision' that must come from farmers themselves. Without a clear vision of what their quality of life is about, without a clear understanding of 'quality of products' (things they make and produce) they are proud of, without a strong will (or 'true grit') to make the vision come true, it is hopeless even with many many parties involved.

I wish I can reach out and 'preach' that farmers can have 'dreams' and 'successes' like others have. Farmers can make a quality life from producing quality produce. Farmers don't need government meddling (and destroying their livelihoods with baits and poisons). Farmers must get up front and do things outside their paddy fields do they can have more control of their lives, their produces and their dreams. Noone can do that for farmers. Not I, not us, not middlemen, not public servants, not scholars, not monks, not politicians, especially NOT governments, can read farmers' minds and do what farmers want. Farmers must stand up and say what they want, what they want others to do to help, what they do not want others to do that may harm farmers and their produce.

I can go on raving but I cannot change farmers' situations. The change must come from farmers.

Farmers must set direction and move along, so we can join them. So we can walk with them. ;-)
