My father often relays a story to me that never loses its sense of profundity. "How often do you think of death."  the Buddha asked his disciple. "Every day," the apprentice replied.  The Buddha, in turn said, "You need to think of death ever time you breathe, for you do not, you will cease living if you stop breathing."
