Thank you for this insightful article. It is clear that the world today is changing and religions are much less the essence of communities (now that money or economy has taken stronger hold). Being a Buddhist is not about strongly holding on to a valuable straw (the Tipitaka, the tradition, the yellow robe,…) but learning about happy life, harmonious living and striving for higher humanity. The Buddha told us in Galamasutta to have confidence in what we have considered worth to practice. He listed the aspects for considering issues (Scientific process uses a subset of this list).
The world is changing and there is always and will be Buddhists even when not in keeping a name but in learning truth and practicing a way of life. Sadhu!
