I think explanations on deduction and induction are confusing. Perhaps
deduction = substraction/reduction (common meaning); making summary for a particular case/rule from general data/observations/details (another meaning, used more in Math/Scince; general --> specific)
induction = first entry into a position, organization/office (common meaning); reasoning from data/observations/details into a general rule (used often in Math and Science; customed proof methodology: prove for 1, 2, 3,.., n then accept the proof for all n (from 1 to any n); act of bringing about something such as electricity from magnetic fluxes -- eg. induction motors.
And perhaps 'deduction' is 'more to less' and 'induction' is 'less to more' ;-)
