You hit the nail on the head -- right on where it counts.
It seems our pollies can't undestand or even see technology only materials and money.
I agree that cultivating culture (a space for knowledge/technology, belief, living --> society) should be based on 'needs' in equitable (fair and just) society - not based on the leash of popular 'products'.
We have an economy that pays a month salary for a tablet. But in most 'Western economy countries' a tablet cost only 1-2 days of work. We pay the global prices for mobile phones, tablets, cars and fuel,... while we earn 100 times less.
Which way should we develop our culture - use technology? Is it not clear enough?
