โปรแกรมป้องกันไวรัสมีอยู่มากมายหลายตัว ตัวที่ดังๆ ล้วนแต่เป็น commercial ทั้งนั้นเช่น
Mcafee, NAV - Norton Anti Virus, BitDefender, ESET Nod32 เป็นต้น ซึ่งโปรแกรมชั้นนำ ก็มักมี free edition ให้ด้วย



Clam & ClamWin
Clam มีชื่อเสียงบน Linux/Unix เริ่มแรกถูกพัฒนาใช้กับ Mail Server เพื่อตรวจสอบ virus ต่อมาก็ port ไปยัง OS ต่างๆมากมาย

สำหรับบน Windows มีผู้พัฒนา interface ให้ใช้งานได้สะดวกขึ้น ชื่อว่า ClamWin ใช้ virus database เดียวกับ Clam ความเร็วในการ scan ค่อนข้างสูง
