WHO ใช้ KM ในการขับเคลื่อนการประยุกต์ใช้ Genetics หรือ Genomics

Dear Professor Panich,
         WHO's Human Genetics has developed the "Promising Practices in Genetics and Genomics" (PPGG) Initiative in order to highlight and disseminate successful applications of genetics and genomics (please see attached initiative). This Initiative places particular emphasis on Practices that are being developed in low resource settings. On disseminating the collection of Practices gathered through this Initiative (via the Genomic Resource Centre / www.who.int/genomics) we are confident that it will facilitate current and future applications in the field, and make visible the relevance of genetics to health - in diagnosis, treatment, service provision, etc especially for those in low - to middle -income countries. 

         In order to turn this idea into reality, WHO will require the input of you, our expert, who may be  aware of such successful Practices across your country and region. As expert you will identify Practices relevant to the PPGG Initiative and submit them for review to WHO/Human Genetics.

         Initially, we would like to request that you send us one or two examples you may be aware of on genetic approaches, at country level, that might be shown as a successful practice, and be used as an example for other countries.

These practices to your choice could be related to
1.       Global application of genomics/genetics (clinical, research, education)
2.       Practical implementation (policy/projects)
3.       ELSI (Genetics regulation)

         If you could also kindly send us the name of the person most responsible for this practice we could then contact them directly should we need more information. These practices can be local practices that you are aware of - either published (Iranian national thalassaemia screening programme http://www.pubmedcentral.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=15539666) - or not published (Hemoglobin screening in a Brazilian population - see attached).

         Your participation is invaluable to the Initiative's success and I look forward to hearing from you shortly and preferably by 3 March 2006.
